The Student Success Center (SSC) promotes scholastic success and leadership among all Seaver College students through a comprehensive range of free academic support services and programs. The SSC’s tutoring program covers most of the GE curriculum and is readily accessible throughout the academic year. Monthly learning skills workshops feature expert speakers on academic success topics. Professional math tutoring provides individual attention to students in lower-level math classes. Academic coaching addresses study skills in a one-on-one setting.
Support funds that are lacking in various areas of student success such as the QSI (professional math tutoring) program and World Waves program for new international students. Data shows students who consistently participate in these programs benefit from increased academic outcomes and retention.
Funding for the First Wave and Summer Bridge programs depends on donors and grants. Thus, donations are needed in order to continue supporting first-generation students, who make up approximately 19% of the population at Seaver College.
